Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker

Ritchie C. Shoemaker MD practices medicine in the rural Eastern Shore of Maryland.  His clinic may be the only one in the US solely devoted to biotoxin research that has unveiled the details of what goes wrong when people are sickened after spending time in water-damaged buildings (WDB).  He has recorded data on diagnosis and treatment of over 6500 such patients.  He has published multiple papers in peer reviewed literature together with eight books, including Mold Warriors and Surviving Mold.  Ritchie takes a “whole patient” approach to patient care, with emphasis on how immunology, genetics, neuropeptides, coagulation, infectious disease, genomics, chronic inflammatory response syndromes and magnetic resonance spectroscopy all funnel into care of a person with a chronic biotoxin associated illness.  While illness from moldy buildings occupy two thirds of his clinical time, he sees patients with refractory Lyme disease, CFS, fibromyalgia, ciguatera and more.  Each of these illnesses can now be profiled and treated with a comprehensive sequential treatment protocol.  Dr. Shoemaker is an entertaining speaker, with humor and new thoughts mixed in to his lectures with data, actual cases and 15 years of experience in the field. See more on the work of Dr. Shoemaker at www.survivingmold.com.

Dr. Neil Nathan

Neil Nathan MD has been practicing medicine for 40 years, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic and Integrative Medicine. His interest in mold and biotoxic illness was sparked by a visit to Dr. Shoemaker's clinic in Pocomoke, Maryland in 2005, and since then he has treated hundreds of patients with those illnesses using the methods pioneered by Dr. Shoemaker. He is currently working with Gordon Medical Associates, with offices in both Santa Rosa and Fort Bragg, California. He is the author of the newly published "On Hope and Healing: For Those Who Have Fallen Through the Medical Cracks", with a chapter devoted to Mold Toxicity. Dr. Nathan can be reached at www.gordonmedical.com.

Dr. Alan McDaniel

Alan McDaniel MD is a board certified ENT and Allergist who has been treating mold induced inflammation since 1988. He is an expert in the interplay between inflammation and the endocrine system. He has lectured at numerous professional meetings and taught courses for the AAEM, ACAM, and teh AAOA. Dr. McDaniel is currently practicing at Gordon Medical Associates. With Alan McDaniel MD Speaking on Non IgE Allergy and Inflammation

Saturday October 22, 2011 (public/medical professionals)

8:15 AM-5:00 PM

Sunday October 23, 2011 (medical professionals only)

9:00 AM-1:00 PM

Dr. Shoemaker broke new ground in demonstrating the importance of the innate immune system and its pivotal role in inflammation and chronic illness. His research into  how body systems break down in the face of specific triggers provides answers for  challenging health issues that face patients and practitioners. Some of the most baffling symptoms become understandable when you know how biotoxins impact the body of a patient with a genetic susceptibility.

This will be a unique opportunity for those on the West Coast  interested in learning about the fascinating details of Dr. Shoemaker's work, both from Ritchie Shoemaker himself, and from some of the leading physicians who use his protocols in their practice.

You will learn about the specific biotoxins which trigger a cascade of effects in the body, the Biotoxin Pathway, and how and why those effects come about. You will also learn how to measure those effects, and the detailed, progressive protocols that can be used to correct each step of that disordered pathway.

Dr. Neil Nathan will present  basic information in a way that makes it easy to understand the complex interplay of the parts involved. This will allow Dr. Shoemaker to take you further into how to make the information work for you. Understanding the theoretical basis of the protocols improves your ability to apply the various steps at the right time and in the right way to maximize effectiveness.

A panel of Gordon Medical physicians  will discuss issues that come up in treatment.

Hanheld VCS Screening Kit This kit can be used in a medical office, or by a patient in their home. Those who prefer to use the VCS online should look at the Online VCS APTitude Test..

The VCS APTitude is designed to help identify contrast vision loss from exposure to a variety of environmental sources of illnesses in a non-specific manner.  The test cannot distinguish illness from different exposures (such as mold versus dinoflagellate, for example).
