Event Report - IP-in-Action Live Bolton event huge success despite major motorway closure reduces visitor numbers.

M61 Fire

The IP-in-Action  LIVE event at the Bolton Reebok stadium brought together manufacturers, installers, integrators, consultants and some notable end users for a memorable event. Although somewhat marred by the major incident and motorway closure immediately adjacent to the Reebok complex the event remained as popular as ever. We understand that although the M61 northbound was closed for several hours and southbound congested for most of the day, thankfully there were no serious injuries.

Paul Hennings, IP UserGroup Director explained "It is a great shame that the incident and subsequent road closure has prevented many of our delegates and guests from joining us today. I have had several emails and texts from colleagues who have registered but have been unable to attend due the traffic grid-lock on the M61 and the surrounding motorway network". He added "this is not the first visit to the Bolton Reebok and it won't be our last, so rest assured those who missed out today will have an opportunity to meet with the exhibitors in the future - plus of course the presentations will be available from the www.ip-in-action-live.com  website shortly".

Kev Williams"Video Analytics for Smoke Detection"

Dedicated Micros - Kevin Williams

Kev Williams explained how video based smoke and fire detection sees the fire at source, long before a traditional fire detector. This provides the advantage of an early warning of the presence of smoke and flame and fast confirmation through the remote visual verification of the alarms it generates. This enables a confirmed call to be made to the Fire Brigade and commercial decisions to be taken about whether to deploy sprinklers or other automatic fire suppressants. He will talk about:

  • Using video analytics for smoke and fire detection,

  • Advantages over traditional methods of detection,

  • The need for visual verification, Failsafe,

  • Secure and segregated  IP network for fire systems
