Cultural Competency for the Prevention Professional

December 13, 2011                       9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This training is closed as it has reached capacity. To be placed on the waiting list, please contact jessica@guideinc.org.

GUIDE, Inc. is pleased to offer Cultural Competency for the Prevention Professional on Tuesday, December 13 from 9 am - 5 pm.  This training will give Prevention Professionals a refresher in cultural awareness and appropriateness in the prevention field.  This is one of the Core Courses required by PCCG for those seeking prevention credentialing in Georgia.

At a young age most people learn how to recognize differences more quickly than similarities, and how to dislike others who are not like us. In our ever-increasing diverse communities, understanding, tolerance and appreciation for differences is necessary to running effective prevention programs. This session will include activities and discussions exploring cultural diversity and prejudices in a safe environment in order to learn how to increase cultural competence and create safe spaces in your programs and organizations.  Bring an open mind, as we will discuss critical diversity issues such as racism, ageism, heterosexism and sexism.

Registration fee of $25 includes training materials, morning snacks, and certificate of completion.  Organizations registering more than one person will receive a discounted registration rate for the 2nd person. Please note that lunch will be on your own and is not provided.

If you are ready to register, please gather the names, titles, and email addresses for everyone you will be registering!

We look forward to seeing you December 13th!
