Legislative Road Show - Grand Junction 

Join the Colorado League of Charter Schools for Legislative Road Shows the first week of December 2011. These road shows will inform Colorado charter school leaders about legislation being proposed at the State Capitol in 2012. During the road shows, attendees will hear about:

• New charter school and authorizer standards that are expected to be approved by the State Board of Education in early December.  These standards were recommended by the 1412 Committee on Charter and Authorizer Standards and include adoption of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers Quality Standards as well as new rules which move policy to match industry standard regarding Nepotism and Conflict of Interest. 
• Charter school legislation that the League hopes to pursue, which would modernize the Colorado Charter Schools Act, in order to make policy match practice and align Colorado statute with best practices from across the country.

Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and voice concerns/provide suggestions about local and state legislative improvements that would help the Colorado charter school community.
