Examination and Certification

  • The “Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination Certification Programme (ECP). The exam covers the following competency domains:
    • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of business continuity
    • Domain 2: Business continuity Control Best Practice
    • Domain 3: Planning a BCMS based on ISO 22301
    • Domain 4: Implementing a BCMS based on ISO 22301
    • Domain 5: Performance evaluation, monitoring and measurement of a BCMS based on ISO 22301
    • Domain 6: Continual improvement of a BCMS based on ISO 22301
    • Domain 7: Preparing for a BCMS certification audit
  • The “Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer” exam is available in different languages (the complete list of languages can be found in the examination application form)
  •  Duration of the exam: 3 hours
  •  After successfully completing the exam, participants can apply for the credentials of Certified ISO 22301 Provisional Implementer, Certified ISO 22301 Implementer or Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, depending on their level of experience
  • A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully passed the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to the selected credential

Having the material with you during the course is not mandatory, as the presentation slides will be displayed during the course, however they would be helpful in reviewing the material prior to taking the exam.

Summary

ISO 22301 LI This five-day intensive course enables the participants to develop the expertise to support an organization in implementing and managing a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) based on ISO 22301:2010. Participants will also master the best practices to implement business continuity processes from the ISO 22399. This training is consistent with the good practices of project management established in ISO 10006 (Quality Management Systems - Guidelines for Quality Management in Projects). This training is fully compatible with BS 25999 (Business continuity management specification).

Course Curriculum 

Day 1: Introduction to the management of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) based on ISO 22301 and launching a BCMS 

  • Introduction to management systems and the process approach
  • Presentation of the standards ISO 22301, ISO/PAS 22399, BS 25999 and regulatory framework
  • Fundamental principles of Business continuity
  • Preliminary analysis and determining the level of maturity of the existing Business Continuity Management System based upon ISO 21827
  • Writing the business case and preliminary design of the BCMS
  • Developing a project plan of compliance to ISO 22301

Day 2: Planning a BCMS based on ISO 22301 

  • Defining the scope of the BCMS
  • Drafting the BCMS and business continuity policies
  • Business impact analysis (BIA) and risk assessment

Day 3: Launching and implementing a BCMS based on ISO 22301

  • Implementation of a document management framework
  • Design of business continuity processes and writing procedures
  • Implementation of business continuity processes
  • Development of a training & awareness program and communicating about the business continuity
  • Incident management and emergency management
  • Operations management of a BCMS

Day 4: Control, monitor and measure a BCMS and the certification audit of a BCMS according to ISO 22301 

  • Monitoring the BCMS processes
  • Development of metrics, performance indicators and  dashboards
  • ISO 22301 internal Audit
  • Management review of the BCMS
  • Implementation of a continual improvement program
  • Preparing for the ISO 22301 certification audit

Day 5: Exam 


Prerequisites

ISO 22301 Introduction Course plus practice experience, Foundation certification, or a basic knowledge and experience in managing the implementation of BS 25999 / ISO 22301 BCMS is recommended, but not mandatory to take the course.

Instructional Approach

This training is based on the alternation of theory and practice:

  • Sessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
  • Practical exercises based on a full case study including role plays and narrative presentation
  • Review exercises to assist the exam preparation
  • Practice test similar to the certification exam
