Half Marathon Route – The route for the 2nd Annual Summer's End Half-Marathon this year will be an out-and-back course starting at the Chamber of Commerce and following the new portion of the paved St Germain Bike Trail to Old Hwy 70. Follow Old 70 to Shady Lane and the turn-around point. Then return on the same course ending at the park behind the St Germain Chamber of Commerce. We have changed the route this year to make it primarily flat and fast. There will be 6 water/sports drink stations and one portable toilet along the Half-Marathon course. The course will close after 3 hours. Course map.
5K Route – This is an out-and-back course that starts at the park behind the St Germain Chamber of Commerce and follows the paved bike trail to the half-way point, then returns along the same route. This course is mostly flat and fast. Course map.
Note: Walkers are welcome for both race distances. Walkers for the half-marathon distance will start at 7:00 am to assure a timely finish.
Chip timing will be provided for by Race Day Events, LLC
Awards for the 5K & half-marathon will be given out following the races. They will be given to the top overall female and male finishers in the both races. (Overall winners will not be eligible for Age Group Awards.) Age Group Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in the following increments: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up.
This year, the canoe and kayak races will start at the dam on the St. Germain River (parking at the wayside, 2.5 miles west of town on Highway 70). All paddlers will paddle the out-and-back 4-mile course on the scenic St Germain River. Racers will start in separate heats beginning at 11:15 am.
The course will follow the St. Germain River two miles to the turnaround point at the mouth of Pickerel Lake. The St. Germain River is a very slow flowing river. The current is practically non-existent so paddling upstream is very easy. This is a great paddling race for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. Come and enjoy the beginning of fall on the water in St. Germain!
For those who are participating in both a running event and the paddle event. There will be plenty of time to drive from the starting/finishing location of the run to the starting/finishing location of the paddle. If you have questions or concerns about the timing, please contact Anne at the St Germain Chamber at 715-477-2205.
