Moving Puppets Off the Shelf and Into Action in the Early Childhood Classroom

Originally offered this past fall, this workshop returns due to popular demand. The session is designed to give early childhood educators hands-on training in using puppetry as an interactive tool for learning. Check out the Level II PDs listed to the left if you attended this session in Fall 2011!
What can I expect to gain from this workshop?
- Identify how puppets can be used to develop language skills, and address emotional and social challenges
- Develop basic skills needed to to be an effective puppeteer
- Learn the unique needs and demands of different puppets
Participants will work with a variety of puppets, including the basic sock puppet and the more sophisticated soft “muppet-like” puppet, and will touch on the large three-person Chinese dragon-esque puppets.

Early childhood educators interested in exploring a new outlet for engaging their students.
