About Zoa by Pamela J. Marshall for flute and harp
Peter Bloom, flute and Mary Jane Rupert, harp, are the duo "2". In September, they premered Zoa, written especially for them. The piece features melodic moments and interesting noises and extended techniques, reflecting the otherworldly associations of the name Zoa. Peter will play alto flute and piccolo as well as the familiar C flute.
So, what's a "zoa"? Think protozoa or poet William Blake. The sounds in Zoa are an imagined music of elemental creatures. In William Blake's monumentally mystic poem "The Four Zoas", each Zoa is both a force of nature and an aspect of our personas.
Free admission. Donations accepted for the Club's Music Scholarship fund.
