               Getting Your Pitch Right

Robert Delman, GoldenSeeds, ARC Angel Fund

                                             Michael Edelhart, PivotCon
                                     Dennis Mortensen, Visual Revenue

Early-stage funding is pretty scarce these days - only companies that have a great story to tell are able to convince angels and other funding sources that they are indeed a good financial investment. However, all too many entrepreneurs stumble during their presentations.

Young entrepreneurs tend to not be sufficiently familiar with the language of investors, while older entrepreneurs tend to have difficulty adapting their perspectives to the start-up sector from big business. As a consequence, countless products and services with significant potential never make it to market because funding could not be obtained.

The meeting is designed to help startup managers and small business owners deepen their understanding of the pitch process for the purpose of enhancing interactions with sophisticated funding sources. The panel will share diverse perspectives on key elements of effective presentations.

Robert Delman is Managing Director of Golden Seeds, an angel investor organization targeting ventures with the potential to grow into multi-million dollar businesses. He is also a Partner of the ARC Angel Fund and Canrock Ventures, both of which invest in seed and early-stage companies. Previously, Rob was V.P. of Astia, an organization focused on helping women to create and grow entrepreneurial enterprises.

Michael Edelhart is President of PivotCon, which runs the largest tech trade show in the country known as the Pivot Conference. He is an experienced media and Internet start-up executive. Most recently, Mike was Managing Director and founder of First30 Services, a launch accelerator for early stage companies. Previously, he held CEO and executive management positions at a range of media organizations.

Dennis Mortensen is the Founder and CEO of Visual Revenue, which focuses on predictive analytics for media. He is a pioneer in the online marketing sector, as well as a full-fledged entrepreneur who successfully delivered a number of company exits. Dennis is an accredited Associate Web Analytics Instructor at the University of British Colombia. Previously, he was COO of IndexTools, until it was acquired by Yahoo! Inc.
