Workshop Overview:

In Part One of the Communicating Science Series: “Framing Messages”, you worked on crafting your message box. But how does that work in a media interview? In Part II of the Communicating Science Series you will learn how to:

  • Weave your message into an interview to make sure you get your main points across
  • Avoid getting sidetracked in a verbal interview
  • Indentify what questions to ask reporters, and more…

In this lively half-day workshop on media interview skills for scientists you will have an opportunity to receive hands-on practice in preparing for an interview with on-camera demonstrations and feedback so you can make your mistakes and build your skills with a friendly crowd instead of in a live interview! You'll also be given skills to help you  prepare for interviews on camera, the phone, or any other spoken media format.

Breakfast begins at 8:30 am and the workshop begins at 9:00 am. Due to small group work and on camera interview practice, this workshop is limited to 50 Fellows. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
