Learning Objectives 
By participating in this symposium you will be able to: 
  

  • Describe factors that contribute to positive versus negative outcomes for people with ASD
  • Identify self-advocacy issues for people with ASD
  • Describe educational and behavioral approaches to help people with ASD tolerate simple dental procedures
  • State how the word “appropriate “ has been assessed from a legal point of view
  • Explain strategies to help a child fall asleep and remain asleep
  • Recognize relationship and dating issues for those living with ASD
  • Discuss strategies to assist with mealtime

Continuing Education Credits are available for speech language pathologists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, and teachers.

Nurses: Children's Specialized Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Up to 6.50 nursing contact hours will be offered. Partial credit permitted.  

Physicians: Children's Specialized Hospital is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Children's Specialized Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
