The proper boat safety will save a life!

Please join The Storm Trysail Foundation, US Merchant Marine Academy and SUNY Maritime College on Saturday April 14, 2012 for a  Hands-On Safety at Sea Seminar at the SUNY Maritime College Campus at Fort Schulyer, Bronx, New York.

7:00 AM starts check-in - located in the Science and Engineering Building Lobby

The Seminar will begin PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM and run through 6:00 PM. Lunch will be provided in the SUNY Maritime College mess hall as well as afternoon snacks.

The cost is $200 per person - and registration AFTER April 7, 2012 will have a $25.00 late fee applied!

The Safety at Sea Seminar will be moderated by Ralph Naranjo and a team of session leaders who will include:

TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED
  • On the Water  Session includes ~ setting storm sails, reefing and crew overboard drills   
  • Fire Fighting ~ using live fire and extinguishers
  •  Emergency Medical
  • Pyrotechnics ~ use of flares
  • Damage Control
  • Life Raft Use ~ How to use one, how to launch & enter a raft
  • Weather and Emergency Radio Communication 
  You will need to bring TWO Sets of foul weather gear amd an extra change of clothing.  One set of foul weather gear will be used for the pool session and the other will be used for the on the water session. 

***   The Cruising Club of America requires that 30% of all crew members attend a US Sailing sanctioned Safety at Sea Seminar within 5 years of the start of this years Newport to Bermuda Race   ***

***  This Seminar meets the requirements for the US SAILING Safety at SEA Certificate of Attendance  ***
