About our speaker:

John HicksJohn Hicks is President and CEO of J.C. Geever, Inc. He provides consultation and strategic guidance for annual and capital fund raising programs for a variety of clients serving diverse constituencies and communities. Additionally, he counsels not-for-profits on building managerial, fundraising, and board capacity. Over a career of more than twenty years, he has worked with a diverse and broad group of clients, ranging from grassroots organizations to national not-for-profits.

John presents the Foundation Center's Proposal Writing. Cultivating Grantmaker Relationships and After the Grant seminars across the nation. He has appeared as a speaker for the UK Institute of Fundraising, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP). John has provided grant writing and fundraising training for a variety of nonprofits, including the Library of Congress, and the Ford Fellows Program and among others. He is a contributing author to the Foundation Center's book After the Grant (2010) and The Nonprofit Handbook: Fund Raising (Wiley, 2001).

A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), John is immediate Past President of the Greater New York Chapter of AFP and continues to serve in volunteer leadership positions for AFP International He has also served as Chair of Fund Raising Day in New York, the nation's largest one-day conference on philanthropy. John holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Hartford.
