AMREF African Family Day and Hike for Health

AMREF is bringing Africa to the beautiful Goodwood Estate on Sunday 17th June. We want you to join us to celebrate your love for Africa, meet up with old friends, make new ones and have a grand day out with all the family! 

The day will include:

• African music, dance and craft workshops
• An educational 'Trundle Trek'   
• A treasure hunt for little ones
• Face-painting   
• Delicious African barbeque lunch
• An interactive musical performance from award-winning African theatre company 'Iroko'

Hike for Health

During the morning, you can take part in the Hike for Health, a 20km sponsored walk through the breath-taking Sussex countryside. 20km represents the distance an African woman may walk to get clean water or health care for her baby. 

For an extra challenge, we want you to complete the hike carrying 6 litres of water in a backpack, to bring home the reality of the daily walk for water that thousands of African women face.

The walk is open to everyone who is able to complete the course. Children under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

We would like to encourage all walkers to aim to raise £300 in sponsorship. The more you raise, the more lives we can save in Africa. To give you an example of what your sponsorship money could achieve:

• £300 could purchase and install one PVC water tank, which provides clean water for up to 50 families

• £500 could train two midwives, who will return to their communities with the knowledge and medical skills to save the lives of many women and children

• £1,000 could buy all the materials and equipment needed to build a shallow well, a permanent water supply which serves 35 households and their livestock

Registration

Tickets for this event cost £50 for adults and £10 for children. Your ticket includes all activities, entertainment and lunch. If you would like to bring your own picnic lunch, the price will be just £35 for adults and £5 for children.
