Great Lakes Youth Rally 2012

All teens, in Grade 7 to 12, are invited for a weekend of fun and worship on April 20-22 at Great Lakes Christian High School. We have invited David Skidmore from Murfreesboro, Tennessee to be our speaker and we will be discussing the topic "You're Not Alone". We hope you will be able to join us for a weekend of praising God and learning from His word.

For those of you who don't know what a Youth Rally is, it is a weekend for teens to hang out with a bunch of friends while worshipping and learning more about God. It is a jam-packed weekend with meaningful bible lessons, authentic worship, fun activities, powerful devotionals, great food and hanging out with friends (new and old ones). Basically, it is a great weekend that every teenager should attend.

SPEAKER

DAVID SKIDMORE

David Skidmore has been in Youth Ministry for 16 years and currently serves at the North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, TN where he works with 250 7-12th graders. David and his bride have three daughters: Daisy Sue, Anna Belle, and Lila Mae. David is a graduate of the University of Memphis where he did his Undergraduate and Graduate work in the area of Interpersonal/Organizational and Small Group Communication Studies.  

In addition to attending at the University of Memphis, he also taught Speech and Oral Communication at the University as an adjunct professor before entering ministry to teens.

David is looking forward to his visit to Canada to see the Canadian friends he has made at IMPACT - a week long camp for teens on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville.  "Canada" happens to be his favorite place to visit in the World Showcase at Disney's EPCOT Center. 

David is a fan of the TV show L O S T and is a collector of old metal lunchboxes, and all things MUPPETS. But his biggest passion is being a "sycamore tree" for teens . . . lifting them above the distractions of the crowd that they might see the approaching Savior.

WORSHIP

JOSH HUNTER (featuring RELENTLESS)

Our worship times during the weekend will be led by Josh Hunter (featuring Relentless). Josh is an alumnus of Great Lakes and is currently a student at Brock University. He served as the worship minister at the Beamsville Church of Christ and is the Chorus Director at Great Lakes. Josh has a deep passion for leading people in authentic worship to God and is really excited about being with us for the weekend.

Relentless is a singing group made up of students frorm Great Lakes who love to worship God. The members of Relentless are: Matt Burrows, Claire Cole, Shanna Hunter, Matt Kralt, Brad MacLean and Kalita Zila. The group is travelling to California in May to lead worship for the teen program at the Pepperdine University Bible Lectures.
