You are invited to the 2012 Employment Matters! Conference, presented by the Massachusetts Chapter of APSE (MA-APSE), and co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. There are many exciting initiatives, developments, and issues in Massachusetts that impact people with disabilities looking for work and careers.  Join us as we share new ideas, discuss new and promising initiatives, and address challenges, to help individuals with disabilities succeed in the workforce. The conference will include a keynote session followed by two rounds of breakout sessions on topics of interest and impact here at home.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees. TO REGISTER FOR THE CONFERENCE, CLICK ON THE LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
 
Note: This event has been pre-approved for 4.5 hours of CRC credits. Documentation for continuing education credits will also be available.

Location: College of the Holy Cross, Worcester - Hogan Campus Center (top of the hill, left gate)
Cost: Registration for the conference is only $25 for APSE members. For non-members, the cost is $75. Interested in joining APSE? You can receive a discounted 1-year individual membership to APSE and MA-APSE plus conference registration for only $125!

Keynote Session: The keynote session will include a presentation by Christine Griffin, the Assistant Secretary for Disability Policies and Programs, on the status of efforts in Massachusetts to improve employment outcomes, and a keynote speech by Dr. Laura Owens, Executive Director of National APSE, sharing her perspective from a national vantage point on the critical importance of employment in the lives of people with disabilities.

JOB DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR AWARD
At the conference, we would like to recognize the people at the heart of our mission - job developers  -- by presenting a Job Developer of the Year Award.   To nominate your favorite Job  Developer for his or her outstanding work, please submit:

  • a statement (500 words or less), regarding why this individual is deserving of this award, with an emphasis on business relationships and quality outcomes
  • two letters of recommendation: one from the individual's direct supervisor, and another from an individual they have assisted in finding a job in the community.
