Julie Marshall, Blue Valley Multi-Service Center, Presents.  Our focus will be on the Blue Valley Backpack Program and how we can use exposure of the PROBLEM to help feed more local children! Additionally, the Blue Valley Multi-Service Center is An Outreach Program of Johnson County Human Services. Assistance is provided based on certain eligibility requirements.

Mission: Providing essential human services as a safety net, targeting older adults, people with a disability, and low-income families, in order to support independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency.

Emergency assistance is available for food, rent, and utilities. There is also limited assistance for medications and other medical emergencies. Blue Valley Mult-Service Center also provides case management and self-sufficiency programming.

Julie is a lifelong resident of Johnson County, received her BA in Psychology from Kansas State University, and a MA in Counseling & Guidance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  She has worked for the Johnson County Human Services Department Outreach program for the past 6 years, and has been the Community Social Services Manager at the Blue Valley Multi-Service Center for nearly 3 years.

Weekdays can be crazy, so we are keeping the organized portion of this event to one hour. Feel free to come and open network as early as 11 am. Lunch is served and the program agenda begins at 11:30.

Jason Gajan, the owner of our Leawood Bonefish Grill, is staffing his restaurant JUST FOR US and providing lunch while we network with other women.

MANY THANKS to our February presenter, Maria Holiday! Maria  has been a full-time, certified educator for over 20 years. She is an Executive Director for Apriori Beauty, an organic & performance based skin care. She also owns a private preschool and day care. She is a teacher, mother and a grandmother to four little princesses.

As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Maria Holiday began fighting for tougher sentencing guidelines for offenders 15 years ago. She was featured on “60 Minutes” concerning sexual predators and “Stephanie’s Law” in 1998. She founded the political action group, Kansas Women or Accountable and Responsible Government. She has testified before the Kansas Legislature, providing both oral and written statements and been a featured speaker at press releases regarding this issue. She has made appearances on Fox News with Juliet Huddy, Mike Jerrick and Judge Jeanine Pirro.

Holiday and former Johnson County Sheriff, Currie Myers, founded the Missing Sexual Offender Center, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing absconders of the State and National Sex Offender Registry into compliance; providing proactive strategies to reduce future sexually related crimes; and supplying training and education to the public concerning sexual predators and the inaccuracies of sex offender registries.
