Creating an Energy-Aware DCIM strategy

Mark Harris has been involved in data center technologies for more than 25 years in a wide range of market segments including commercial computing systems, storage, security, and networks. For the past 10 years, he has been driving disruptive and incremental change alike across the physical infrastructure and power management segments and is a recognized visionary in the category of DCIM. Previously holding increasingly senior positions with Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP), Cabletron Systems (now Enterasys), Netscaler (now Citrix) and Cyclades/Avocent (now Emerson), Harris joined Server Technologies in the summer of 2011. Mr. Harris focuses on building sales and marketing strategies and resulting organizations that provide growth through leverage. A natural technologist, Mr. Harris has become a regular throught-leader and contributor to trade publications such as Mission Critical, Data Center Knowledge and to online sites such as LinkedIn Groups and various Blogs across the Data Center industry.

Vice President of Product Development for RF Code, Chris Gaskins is an experienced technology development executive who joined RF Code from American Power Conversion, (now part of Schneider Electric). There, he was responsible for the Security and Environmental Product Line, including included product management, product marketing, and engineering. Previously, he served as director of service and support at NetBotz, Inc., a leader in IP-based environmental and video monitoring solutions, where he was built, led and managed a worldwide service and support team. Before joining NetBotz, Chris was vice president of worldwide development at AppGate Inc., a VPN software company, where he managed a worldwide software engineering organization with additional responsibilities for customer support and product management. Prior to AppGate, he served in various engineering, development and product management roles with Tivoli Systems/IBM. Mr. Gaskins earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Berry College.

Bruce Taylor, Founder/Executive Producer, Uptime Institute

Bruce A. Taylor is Vice President for Uptime Institute, a member company of the research and analytics firm The 451 Group and Tier1 Research. He is global director for the Symposia program. The Institute is the research-based corporate advisory on the continuous availability, reliability, resiliency, operational sustainability and energy efficiency of data centers, and the promulgator of the Tier Classification System and de facto industry standard for certifying data center facilities for business-required levels of uptime availability by design and as-built. During the year 2010, the Institute added a new Tier classification standard for Operational Sustainability and a new service for senior-most corporate strategic computing capacity planners known as the Digital Infrastructure Roadmap. An career-long executive of IT media, Bruce is a widely acknowledged expert writer, editor, publisher, speaker, and consultant focused exclusively enterprise-level IT markets.
