 Shoot with the Legends

United States Clay Target Association and the

Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association

On March 31st 2012 the United States Clay Target Association in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will be holding a Shoot with the Legends fundraising trap shooting event to help fund the United States Clay Target Association and the USCTA Gulf Coast Training Academy, a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization. The mission of the USCTA is to support athletes at the grassroots level in shotgun safety, training and education as well as provide scholarships for shotgun athletes pursuing Olympic dreams.  Also, the USCTA will be providing a donation to the Pinellas Park National Little League Program to help further the promotion of baseball and softball to young people in our community.

To date, the academy and its two Olympic level coaches have produced a number of local, state and National Champions.  Also, Junior Olympic team members and US Team hopefuls from the East Coast to the West Coast. The USCTA Training Academy has joined with Skyway Trap and Skeet Club in St. Petersburg, Florida to create a premier training facility.  Plans include building a full, Olympic style bunker for Olympic Trap training, a dedicated Olympic Skeet field and an indoor physical, mental and vision training center which will also include an electronic training simulator with video analysis.

The uniqueness of this training facility is that it is the first USA Shooting and US Clay Target Association environmentally friendly facility in the country, shooting steel shot instead of lead. Presently, the facility has both Olympic Skeet and International Wobble Trap.

In January 2012 we established the Gulf Coast Hot Shots as the youth program for shotgun shooting sports at Skyway Trap and Skeet Club.  Currently, we have twenty-four team members ages eight through collegiate, with skill levels from beginning to elite.  We have a wonderful staff of credentialed, volunteer coaches and an enthusiastic and supportive parent base.  The Gulf Coast Hot Shots want to invite all who are interested in learning about shotgun sports to join us at Skyway Trap & Skeet Club on Saturday mornings at 0930.

Please help us in establishing a strong grassroots youth program and also a world class facility for National and International Shotgun Sports training.

Special Guests:  Wade Boggs(Red Sox), Anthony Telford(Expos), Andy McGaffigan(Expos), Toby Hall(Rays), Travis Phelps(Brewers), Scott Williamson(Reds), Brian Tolbert(Padres), Mark Whitten(Cards), Michael Pittman(Bucs) and other distinguished guests.
