"FOR ALL THINGS THERE IS A SEASON "
The Faith and Arts Trustees of Royal Lane Baptist Church extend to you an invitation to participate in our second Art Festival this coming September. The theme for the show is "For All Things there is a Season", based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, which invites you to explore the visual and spiritual richness of this passage through the creation of of new and original works of art. Works on canvas, water-media on paper, drawings and pastels, collage, graphic design, textiles, photography, three-dimensional works, etc., may be submitted for adjudication. No computer-generated art will be accepted in this show. Work submitted must be new original artwork or that which you have produced within the last 3 years. You should be able to attend the events associated with the festival.
You will submit with each work a statement of 100 words or less relating your inspiration for the creation of your work relative to the theme of this show. Please indicate the name of the piece to which the text relates. This is an integral part of the selection process.
You may submit up to 3 works with a $30 registration fee. Students 12-18 may submit 2 works for $15 fee. As a general rule no more than 2 works per artist will be selected. Work submitted must be appropriately framed and ready for wall mounting (no sawtooth hangers). Plexiglass must be used instead of glass except with pastels. Hanging work must not exceed 48" in any direction. Three-dimensional work including pedestal should not exceed footprint of 24"x36" at 48" in height and must be installed by artist. Work delivered not meeting the eligibility requirements may be excluded from the exhibit. A quality digital image of the work(s) must be submitted on or before 8/15/12 for consideration for acceptance by the juror. With each digital image please include your name, name of the piece, medium used and price. Please submit the image oriented in the way you wish it to be viewed.
Juror for this event is Rex Kare. Rex is a visual artist who obtained his M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art. He specializes in the human figure in various mediums and his works span both secular and liturgical subjects.
