EPEAT® CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATE TRAINING
May 21 - 24, 2012 Portland, OR USA
for Manufacturers, Suppliers, Consultants, Verifiers and
Product Registration Entities
Hosted by EPEAT
EPEAT® is the premier environmental rating system to help purchasers evaluate, compare and select greener IT. EPEAT covers computers (Desktops, Laptops, Thin Clients, Workstations), and computer monitors/displays.
EPEAT scores products across more than 50 lifecycle environmental performance criteria, and conducts ongoing third-party verification of manufacturer claims. EPEAT’s simple yet powerful Bronze, Silver or Gold product-specific rating is well-recognized in the marketplace, making it easy for manufacturers to demonstrate the environmental attributes of their products and for purchasers to select greener electronics for their homes and businesses.
EPEAT covers 41 countries and has more participating manufacturers across more rated IT products than any other environmental registry, enabling purchasers to compare and select products from local or global suppliers based on environmental excellence.
This course will teach the EPEAT® system and the IEEE 1680.1 standard for computers and computer displays, from product declaration through verification. The first two and a half days of training is intended for both subscribers and those involved in the verification process, and will highlight the standards, requirements for conformity, and product registration. The final day of training will focus on supplemental training for subscriber, qualified verifiers and others involved in the verification process, and will end with the EPEAT Certificate Examination. Delegates who successfully complete the full 3.5-day training and pass the certificate exam will be EPEAT-certificated to perform conformity assessment and verification.

Meals

Manufacturers who take the course will be able to use the EPEAT environmental rating system. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the system operations and standard requirements. You will learn in detail the product declaration process; the product, service and corporate criteria; and the verification process.
Suppliers who participate will be able to assist customers to qualify products to the EPEAT standards. You will learn what proof is required for the different product criteria, and how to help manufacturers maintain supporting information for their product declaration.
Consultants who take the course will be competent to provide product registration and verification support services to manufacturers registering products in EPEAT. Upon passing the final exam, you will also be certified to perform verification within the EPEAT® system as an independent contractor working under the management of an organization that has been qualified as a Product Registration Entity (PRE).
Prospective EPEAT Verifiers who complete the course and pass the exam can use that certification to apply to work with an organization that conducts verifications to the IEEE 1680 family of standards. Qualified Verifiers are either employees or consultants who investigate the claims of manufacturers regarding their products against the requirements of the standards.
