Room Change: Due to overwhelming interest from NAMM's Retail Members, we needed to move to a larger room in the Renaissance Hotel to accommodate everyone!  The new location is:

  Music City Ballroom, Level 2

Summer NAMM Badge:  You will need to have your Summer NAMM Badge for entrance into Retail Boot Camp. Summer NAMM Badge pickup hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please bring your confirmation to the pickup location in the Renaissance Hotel lobby along with photo ID to pick up your badge. If you have not registered for Summer NAMM, please email me at causbyc@namm.org.

Boot Camp Registration:  Please plan on arriving early to register.  Retail Boot Camp registration will be outside of the Music City Ballroom starting at 8:00 a.m.  

Lunch:  Lunch will be buffet style beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Notes:  Remember this is an all-day session so you will want to take lots of notes.  We will have small notepads and pens on the tables but you may wish to bring a large notepad or tablet for more notes.

You see, store owners like you started your music stores with the same essence that I had when I first entered into my life as a retailer – PASSION! I had a tremendous love for kites of all things. And, I wanted to share my love for kites with as many others as I could. So I started Mackinaw Kite Company. That was my way of living my passion – making kites available to adults and children who viewed kites as an expression of freedom. That was my passion!

 Passion Often Isn't Enough
I soon learned that passion alone wasn’t going to be enough to keep my business successful. I knew that I needed more – I needed knowledge. So I became just like a sponge! I traveled around the state talking with retailers, looking for the keys to success. I became a devoted student of all facets of retail businesses. And my new knowledge made a difference in my business so I started teaching what I learned to other retailers.

Fear + Uncertainty = Stagnation
I continue to hear fear and uncertainty in the voices of retailers, particularly now in our troubled economic times. And that fear has made me realize that the best way for me to continue to fulfill my passion for sharing the secrets of retail success is to be in a room with retailers for an entire day and expose them to ideas that can change their businesses immediately.
