PARKING & ACCESS

Each artist will be given a gate access code so that they can work on their murals at any time during this period whether RPM is open or not.

We don't want to insist that EVERYONE has to park  in the back so PLEASE try to be considerate of the fact that we have paying customers that like to park as close as they can. If we are not busy then you are welcome to park up front. However, if we are busy (or get busy while you are working), we'd like to ask you to please move your vehicle to our back parking area. You can always come up front to load/unload your equipment.

  Royal Palm Marina's Bi-Annual
Seawall Art Competition 2012

Winning Mural by Diane Davidson

We are so excited to be able to start working on our "2nd RPM Seawall Art Competition." I think our first one was VERY successful. Englewood is  definitely a mecca of talent. I have never seen so much in such a small town. It was wonderful to meet you all and to watch you work so very hard in the process! Initially, we had planned to do this on an annual basis but we just could NOT bring ourselves to paint over them after the first year. It's still going to be hard to do and I want every single artist that participated to know how beautiful your artwork was/is and that we thank you and appreciate ALL of your efforts!

Diane Davidson won our first contest for her mural (pictured above) named "Crab." What Diane lacks in naming imagination she sure does not lack anywhere else! This photo does not do this mural one BIT of justice at all. We invite you all to come and take a look before we 'ready' the wall to begin the next contest. Come and see how hard the competition was and is likely to be this year!

Currently, we are now starting the registration process. You MUST register by May 2nd. We have 16 spaces open this year since the winning artwork stays each year. If more than 16 register then we must randomly select out of what we have. This will be done on May 6th. Once the artists are selected we then (again) randomly select which spaces they will be working on as some are  definitely better positions than others. However, placement in no way will effect the judging process. Final contestants will be notified by phone AND will be posted on Facebook (so if you don't hear from anyone go ahead and check there) that same evening (May 6th).

The winner of this contest will take home a Grand Prize of $1,000. The contest starts on Memorial Day (May 28th) with the final judging to be done on July 8th at 3PM. Artwork MUST be finished by 10am on July 8th-this includes any and ALL touch up needed.

Each contestant must provide their own materials for their murals. Royal Palm will see that each section is painted white and ready for the artist to begin. You can put as much, or as little, effort into your mural as you deem fit. Your area (from side to side) will be clearly defined as will from top to bottom. You are allowed to go 'out' onto the top stair if you want to add a bit of perspective but no more.

Sorry but we can not allow any registrants in the competition that have any relation to anyone working at the Royal Palm Marina or it's restaurant, "Zeke's." Nor, can they have any relation to any of the contest judges either. Failure to disclose this information will lead to removal from the competition. Judges names will be posted soon.

All murals must have a nautical or 'Old Florida' theme to them. No profanity or nudity is allowed.

We encourage you to bring some kind of padding for your knees or maybe a small chair to sit on while you work. If you can find a small umbrella that may come in handy as well. We will do our VERY BEST to accommodate you while you work. Ice water will be provided to you free of charge at any time so you can stay hydrated. Please be considerate of guests that may want to walk along the docks while you are working OR boaters that may be bringing in their vessels to stay or to dine. Please read the information provided about parking in the left-hand column. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you.
