EVENT SUMMARY
The 2012 North Bay iHub Innovation Showcase is the launch of a new event bringing together North Bay businesses and institutions to celebrate and support innovation. Co-produced by the Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster and Sonoma State University SBE.
The 2012 Business Plan Competition, a contest to help entrepreneurs build business planning skills and develop promising ideas, began in early March and will conclude with four finalists making public presentations. Mobile text voting will enable the audience to select the best pitch.
The competition will culminate in a full afternoon of presentations, keynote addresses and an EXPO highlighting innovation success stories. Appetizers and wine will be served after the awards presentations while guests network with participants in the competition and our North Bay iHub partners.
Prior to these ventures, Dr. Kovach was President and COO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Marin County. There, he proposed and established the first genome-wide association study involving professional football players, a study that directly led to the cofounding of Athleticode in 2009. Dr. Kovach also has served as COO of Athersys, a publicly traded biotechnology company, and as Director of the Office of Technology Management at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kovach began his career as an NFL linebacker (1979-1985), earning his medical degree from the University of Kentucky during off seasons. He also went on to complete a law degree at Stanford University.
