Financial and Access to Care Challenges for the Cancer Survivor 

The focus of this class will be to inform those affected by cancer about accessing care, managing medical costs, and learning about governmental programs. The class will also discuss the opportunities of the Health Care Reform Act and explain patient rights protected by federal law.

 

Presenter for this class is Patient  Advocate Foundation senior case manager  Brendan Bietry. Brendan serves as an active liaison between the patient and their insurer, employer, and/or creditor to resolve insurance, job discrimination, and/or debt crisis matters relative to their chronic, life threatening or debilitating illness. Currently as a bilingual case manager with the LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center, he responds to patient referrals involving access to healthcare and financial matters relative to cancer in Central Texas and nationwide.
