APR Month: Transparency in research
April is APR Month and the Sierra Nevada Chapter is celebrating by recognizing local public relations practitioners who have earned the professional distinction of APR. These 17 professionals are specially invited to this educational programming meeting where they will have the opportunity to earn 1.0 points toward their reaccreditation – a gift from the Chapter to congratulate them for their hard work and commitment to the profession.
All other chapter members are welcome to attend this complimentary, continental breakfast meeting. During the event, members interested in pursuing their accreditation can network with and seek mentoring from existing APRs.
Join us as we welcome, Todd Felts, assistant professor of strategic communications and director of graduate studies in the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. Todd will offer a formal presentation titled:
Transparency in Research, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
In addition to meeting the many requirements of the past, today's PR practitioner must understand the impacts of practicing in a 24/7 news cycle, and what audiences are coming to expect in regard to more open forms of communication. This seminar will look at the role of the PR practitioner as community manager and comment moderator and how these roles translate across the RPIE spectrum. It will look at each step -- from research to evaluation.
This seminar will also investigate levels of transparency and knowledge on how to engage openly with publics. It will help identify potential red flags, ethical considerations and how technology can both build and create challenges in creating open channels of communications.
Join us at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa on Wednesday, April 25 at 8 a.m. The cost is FREE for PRSA members; for non-members, it is $10. Registration for this event is limited.
