Join us for a talk about creative spaces!
Ann Markusen, director of the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs' Project on Regional and Industrial Economics (PRIE), will speak about the role of the artist in creating a dynamic city and give her observations on some of Austin’s artist-centered spaces.
Markusen's research focuses on occupational approaches to regional development and on artists, arts organizations, cultural industries, and cultural activity as regional economic and quality-of-life stimulants.
The Arts Economy Initiative of PRIE is midstream in a ten-year project on artists, their livelihoods, the organizations that nurture and present their artwork, and contributions, along with arts organizations and cultural industries, to regional and local economies.
