Paddle Out Cancer – A Fun Run Float on the Boise River including a Poker Run for Adults and Nature Cards for Kids.  1st place poker hand - an overnight stay and dinner for two at Cactus Pete's.  Best Costume - 2 Maravia Silverback Pads - plus prizes for best boat decor, worst poker hand, bib drawing and tons of raffle prizes.

Why:      A rafting event to benefit River Discovery.  River Discovery is a 501(c)3 organization  that  provides  free rafting adventures to teen and adult cancer survivors that promote healing, and  strengthen the mind, body and spirit.

 When:   Saturday July 21, 2012  - $20 per adult, $10 for kids under 14 - registration link below

 Where:  Boise River Float from Barber Park to Ann Morrison Park
After Float Festivities at Ann Morrison Park 12:30-4:00.  Your registration bib gets you  lunch by PIE HOLE, entry into the bib prize drawing.

Times:   Check in begins at 9am Barber Park -  Launch time 10:45am
There will be free parking at Ann Morrison with Epley's providing morning (9:30am) shuttles (costs $3) from Ann Morrison to Barber Park.

Driving to Barber Park, daily parking fee $6.  Afternoon Shuttle services will be available via Epley’s from Ann Morrison to Barber park all day long (shuttle fee $3).

Finish at Ann Morrison for After Float Festivities; 12:30-4pm Finish and Check out Area  at Old Timer's Shelter in Ann Morrison Park (in order to receive your last poker card  you must  visit our check out area at the Old Timer's Shelter).

What should I bring?

  • Kayak or other self propelled vessel-It’s a long swim.
  • Life jackets rules (State Law requires that all vessels, including rafts, kayaks and canoes be equipped with a personal flotation device for each person in the craft and children 14 years of age and younger, onboard vessels 19' or less, must wear an approved life jacket when the vessel is underway.)
  • Drinkable water for your float
  • Sunscreen
  • Wallet for party afterward
  • Feel free to bring your water cannons and super soakers, etc.  We also hope to get a few costumes too!!

Rules for the event:

  • All kayaks, canoes, and other self propelled vessels will be allowed to participate.
  • Life jackets rules: State Law requires that all vessels, including rafts, kayaks and canoes be equipped with a personal flotation device for each person in the craft and children 14 years of age and younger, onboard vessels 19' or less, must wear an approved life jacket when the vessel is underway.  We encourage all participants to use personal floatation devices to increase your safety.
  • Self propelled vessels designed to carry more than one person will be allowed to participate. However, vessels carrying more than one participant at a time (Team vessel/tandem), must register each participant separately.
  • $20 Entry fee for adults and $10 entry fee for kids, $30 day of event fee.  Entry fee includes; poker card river run entry, entrance to the After Float Festivities at the Ann Morrison that includes lunch, beverage, potential to win fabulous prizes, and loads of fun on the Boise River.
  • In order to be eligible for the finish line prizes each participant must have 5 cards given throughout the course.
  • All participants must check in with an RD staff and/or RD finish area with the River Discovery volunteer staff regardless of where they end their participation.  This will allows us to ensure your safety and the safety of all our participants and volunteers.
  •  All participants will display sportsmanlike conduct during all stages of this event. If someone needs your assistance, provide it and contact me immediately via cell telephone or RD volunteer on the river. Any participant who violates the River Discovery rules and/or behaves in any manner that endangers other participants, volunteers and/or themselves will be disqualified and required to leave the event.
  • There is absolutely no alcohol allowed on the river.  The After Float Festivities will have food, beverages, and fun after the rafting race concludes.
  • No littering allowed, anything you pack on the river you need to pack it back out.
  • The River Discovery staff has the right to amend and/or change the rules for the event in the interest of the safety of the participants and volunteers.
