The Real School of Music invites you to an evening with Jeff Buckridge's Uke Joint on Friday, June 1st from 7:00p-9:00p in the Real Room, including special guest performances by members of the Ukulele Union of Boston.
Jeff Buckridge is a Boston area professional guitar player and known as being one of the founding members of the Boston Horns, one of the region's most respected funk/jazz/horn bands.
Jeff recently found a passion for ukulele while on a vacation to Hawaii. “I just developed a relationship with it, an escape from the guitar. Ukulele was more like just enjoying playing the instrument and playing songs that I like,” he said.
He now has a band called Jeff Buckridge's Uke Joint that has been playing gigs around the Boston area on his nights off from the Boston Horn gigs. Members of Uke Joint include Jeff Buckridge on ukulele, Ed Spargo on bass, Brendon Byrnes on drums and Megan McKenzie on vocals performing fun songs ranging from Louis Armstrong to Michael Jackson. For fun, Jeff sometimes adds a looping pedal to the ukulele to make it sound like he is more than just a solo instrument. He calls this experience "Loopuaele".
