This outdoor hands-on training is designed for citizens willing to become a part of a corps of volunteers in the Upper Delaware River Watershed collecting field data for streams that are threatened by natural gas drilling, pipelines, and other threats that come with this industrial practice. Volunteer monitors have performed monthly testing for 70 stations in PA and NY in the Upper & Middle Delaware since March 2010. Data collected is sent to Delaware Riverkeeper Network and is used to testify and comment about the conditions of Delaware River tributaries to keep the moratorium on drilling in place and petition for stronger protections of these pristine streams in the Region.
Consider joining this network of dedicated volunteer stream monitors if you live north of the Delaware Water Gap. No prior experience is necessary. Trained volunteers willing to adopt a stream location to monitor after the training will be able to loan out Delaware Riverkeeper Network monitoring equipment at no cost (valued at $180).
