Can a musical performance be enhanced by alchemy?
Could there be more to music than just what we hear and feel?
Does music have dimensions beyond the note?
Could music have gustatory dimensions?
If you've ever wondered, please join us and experience an extraordinary sensory experience!
Violinist Hlíf Bente Sigurjónsdóttir and mixologist/artist Ektoras Binikos unite in an unlikely performance within a performance of J.S. Bach's Partita no 2 in D minor.
While Sigurjónsdóttir will perform the seminal work for solo violin, Binikos will translate every movement into a magical libation comprised of unusual spirited infusions.
The audience will at once experience an exceptional musical performance and savor exquisite alchemical potions, all inspired by the emotional fabric of each movement.
The dual performance will conclude with the famous last movement Chaconne, written in memory of Bach's first wife, Maria Barbara Bach. Violinist Joshua Bell has said the Chaconne is "not just one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, but one of the greatest achievements of any man in history.
It's a spiritually powerful piece, emotionally powerful, structurally perfect."
