Looking for ways to use your ipad with your young students? Lost by the huge array of apps available? Wondering how the use of the ipad might be beneficial for young children with autism spectrum disorder, cognitive disabilities or developmental disabilities? Looking for resources for FREE apps? The iPad provides an abundance of possibilities for assistive technology and the opportunities it lends to children in the Birth-3 and early childhood programs. In this "hands-on" workshop, we will explore the iPad’s basic navigation, accessibility features, pre-installed applications and accessories. We will also explore apps in the area of music, language development, fine motor, story books, games, conceptual development/readiness skills, visual schedules, puzzles, speech and language, video modeling, calming, self regulation and much more.
Participants will be provided access to a website with resources for using the ipad. A comprehensive listing of apps by category will also be provided!
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN IOS DEVICE ( ipad, ipod touch, iPhone ) and get ready to play and explore with apps. Limited number of ipads will be available for use by participants without a device. Please make sure your device is fully charged prior to arrival.
