St. Louis Regional ISPI 2012 Fall Conference

Using the Performance Pyramid to Improve Business Results

Presented by: Dr. John Wedman

October 5, 2012,  8 AM to Noon

  • Are you looking for a performance improvement framework that is comprehensive, convincing, systemic and simple to apply?
  • What if you were provided with all the tools associated with this framework to easily perform a needs assessment and gap analysis?
  • What if you could easily use these tools as part of a Level 4 Evaluation?
  • What if you also received sample interview protocols, data collection sheets, examples of case studies and templates for creating final reports?
  •

All of the above (and more!) will be provided by Dr. John Wedman at the St. Louis ISPI Chapter’s Fall Conference Workshop.

Dr. Wedman is Director of the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri and in that capacity provides business consulting to many companies.  When he was first asked to assist companies, he looked for a practical format to apply.  Much to his dismay, he discovered that at that time, many of the performance improvement models were too complex and consequently too often used piecemeal or avoided all together”.  So out of necessity, he created the Performance Pyramid.

The model has evolved significantly over the 15+ years of its life span and is now a complete system for identifying, analyzing, and addressing the barriers to optimal performance in the workplace.  While some practitioners may have seen earlier versions of the Performance Pyramid, it’s likely few have seen the most recent, comprehensive version.

Workshop Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the Performance pyramid framework and its supporting assessment tools to processes within your own company.
  • Communicate more effectively to managers and other project decision makers about performance improvement issues by using Performance Pyramid language and approaches.
  • Better ensure the success of your initiatives by recognizing how the three factors of Vision, Resources, and Support System must be in place and aligned with each other for significant accomplishments to occur.
  • More rapidly identify gaps in your support systems, using the six categories outlined in the Performance Pyramid.

All participants will receive hard copies and electronic copies of :

  • A detailed student manual
  • A needs assessment job aid
  • A data collection format
  • An interview protocol
  • A report sample
  • And a variety of other support material
