  • thinking of starting their own business
  • in the early stages of planning their own business
  • own a blog shop and would like to formalise it into a registered business/ taking it to the next level
  • keen to learn a little more about branding/ marketing your small business

FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP: Includes an actual sharing session by a successful Mumpreneur (who has been in business for a few years), this workshop tries to tailor to answer common queries of MUMpreneurs. Interactive, participants are encouraged to play an active role in the learning process

    • Marketing your business - Promotional Techniques for small-sized businesses, Social Media for a small business
    • Branding your small business - some fundamentals of branding a small operation (as opposed to large MNCs), some recommended resources on how to go about it
    • Distinguishing yourself as a MUMpreneur - how to make it work for you.
    • Real-Life experience Sharing Session - A mumpreneur in business for a few years will share her story - challenges, potential and other real-life experience!

      ABOUT THE FACILITATORS: 

      Mumpreneur-Owners of Mumsfairy (www.mumsfairy.com): Valerie & Juliet
      Mumsfairy was founded in 2006 out of passion for breastfeeding. The company offers tried and tested products that help to make life easier for nursing mothers, and conducts informative breastfeeding seminars and hands-on workshops for new parents who lack the knowledge, skills and support. It will also be expanding to other areas such as baby-wearing and infant massage.  


      Determined to give the best milk to their babies, Valerie and Juliet embarked on their breastfeeding journey, met challenges that spurred them to start Mumsfairy to support fellow nursing mothers, became trained breastfeeding counsellors, and eventually international board certified lactation consultants. Being advocates of attachment parenting, they are also international certified infant massage instructors.

      Jonathan Kwan has spent 7 years in the consulting practice of Deloite, advising clients in the financial services industry, retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, high-tech and the public sector. During this time, he provided management consulting advice on business practices. He currently owns Kwantum Leap which provides life and career coaching, amongst other services. Originally from Toronto, Jonathan has had the fortune to live and work on 3 separate continents. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the CUTC Foundation, a non-profit organisation which focused on technology education and awareness. Jonathan holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours-Co op) in Computer Science.from the University of Waterloo.

      Sher-li Torrey is a career coach by training. She also started a small business in 2006, which was a business school, providing language training to relocated assignees of corporations. The company was profitable in the 3 years of running. In addition, she also headed the career services team for postgraduate students in 2 local universities in Singapore. A mother herself, she is the founder & owner of Mums@Work (Singapore). Sher-li is a trained career coach with certified training in MBTI and CareerLeader.  She is an alumni of the Business School at the National University of Singapore, where she obtained her Bachelor of Business (Marketing) degree. She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Adult training.
