Advanced Leadership for Quality Workshop for Nurse Leaders October 2012 

When is the workshop being held? 

The 4-day workshop will be held October 2-5, 2012 at Peer Assistance in Denver, CO. The seminar will be held from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm each day and participants are expected to attend all four days of the workshop.  There is an administrative fee of $60 to attend.  Breakfast, lunch and snack will be provided each day. 

 What will I learn in this course?

This 4-day Advanced Leadership workshop focused on quality is being offered exclusively to the frontline leaders who participated in the March 2011 Home Health Innovation Frontline Leader program as part of the PIN Project. As a participant in this course, you will obtain new tools to add to your leadership repertoire and in addition you will gain teamwork skills and strategies that will support you in guarding patient safety and quality in home health care. Research is clear that the only way to more effectively and safely care for patients is through highly effective teams. Based on the nationally renowned, heavily evidence based program, Team STEPPS forms the backbone of this valuable workshop. To integrate the concepts from class, you will receive ongoing coaching to support you in the incorporation of these new skills as well as support you in the implementation of your capstone project. Senior leaders in your organization will be trained as coaches to provide the internal support to ensure success of your project.

What will I need to do to prepare for the course?

Recruit a coach to attend the Coaching by Senior Leadership workshop.  Your coach will meet with you weekly, in person or over the phone, after the Leadership workshop to support you in developing your new skills.  Your coach cannot be your direct supervisor, but can be someone else in your organization or from the community.  He or she should be in an executive level position, may or may not be a nurse, and be someone you are comfortable talking openly with.

You will also receive a short book after you register that will need to be completed before the first day of the workshop.

Advanced Leadership for Quality Didactic Workshop Registration and Financial Policies

Registration is not considered complete until payment is received.  The due date for payment will be one week before the workshop.  If payment has not been received by that date, the registration will be released.  If payment is received in the last week AND there is space available the participant may join the class.  If payment has not been received by the day of class, the participant will not be allowed to attend, even if space is available.

Cancellation 

• Cancellation for any reason that occurs more than 30 days from the first day of the workshop will result in a 100% refund.
• There will be no refund for cancellations that occur less than 30 days before the first day of the workshop.

Attendance

The administrative fee for 2012 workshop will be $60.   Participants must be present for all hours of the five day workshop.  For a “no-show” or if a participant misses more than 4 hours, they will not be allowed to continue in the workshop.  There will be no partial make-up arrangements made and no refund of administrative fees will occur.
