Anne Morrow Lindberg once said that "Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after." Learning how to be an effective communicator requires practice, but it doesn't have to be a bore! Students participating in Rhetorically Speaking: A Day Camp for Teens will be introduced to the ancient five canons of rhetoric: Invention, Arrangement, Delivery, Style and Memory.
The day camp, sponsored by New Saint Andrews College, is offered in association with the 2012 Grace Agenda Conference. The camp is open to families in Moscow and surrounding communities, in addition to those attending the Grace Agenda Conference. The camp is intended for middle high and high school age students 12-16 years-old. The camp, which includes lunch and snacks, runs from 9 AM to 5 PM in classrooms at the Church of the Nazarene, at 1400 E. 7th Street in Moscow.
Laura Russell is an NCFCA speech and debate alum and current NSA student (‘14). Before attending college, she was homeschooled along with her five siblings, and became involved in competitive speech and debate her senior year of highschool. Fond memories include long days, longer nights, and printing out enough evidence to capsize a small ship. It was challenging, rewarding, and ultimately one of the most worthwhile things she has ever done. Between college classes, she is now committed to helping coach the Moscow Speech and Debate Club, wherein (to be cliché) she hopes to give back a little bit of what she’s been given.
