T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), in a joint venture with Moffatt & Nichol, is currently providing complete design services for the replacement of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge between San Francisco and Oakland. From conceptual and final design through construction support services, TYLI has been involved in all phases of the project, which includes an asymmetrical Self-Anchored Suspension (SAS) bridge, Skyway structure, approach structure on the Yerba Buena Island side, and approach structure on the Oakland side-a total project length of 6.39km.

About our Speakers:

Hayat Tazir, P.E. is a Senior Bridge Engineer with TYLI.  Hayat Tazir earned her M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988. A structural engineer with more than 15 years of design experience in the specialized field of bridge engineering, Ms. Tazir has held significant roles on projects such as the Center Artery/Tunnel in Boston, the historic Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and the record-setting San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Her work encompasses structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures. In the past several years, during construction of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Ms. Tazir responsibilities have grown to include Team Lead for shop drawing review and On-Site Representative working with steel fabricators for the SFOBB box girders.
