WOMEN IMPACTING TUCSON is a non-political network for women enhancing the community through the flow of information and input supporting Women Leaders of our city and enriching each woman who attends.

Jerry Peyton, Founder and Director of Streetlight Tucsonwill be our guest speaker for the August 6th luncheon held at the Arizona InnWhen you hear “child sex slavery”, do you automatically think of countries in SE Asia or Eastern Europe? You may be shocked to learn that human trafficking of minors is a rapidly growing movement involving thousands of children in the United States and specifically here in our own Tucson community. Jerry will discuss his work in eradicating child sex trafficking in Southern Arizona. Jerry graduated from the U. of A. with a BA and earned Masters degrees from Dallas Seminary and Trinity International University. He has also been certified by the International Human Rights Institute in StrasbourgFrance. One of his many experiences took him to Sudan where he was Director of Safe Harbor International Relief, providing human rights advocacy and humanitarian relief during the genocide. Jerry founded the Tucson Crisis Pregnancy Center in 1981, has been a Tucson City Director for the TFD minority recruitment program and was a Firefighter and EMT for the Tucson Fire Department. Jerry and his wife, Georgia, have three children and ten grandchildren, two of whom were adopted from Ethiopia. Their older son, Matt, was the kicker and punter for the UA Wildcats during the four years of “Desert Swarm” fame.

Please join Jerry Peyton and City of Tucson Business Advocate, Maricela, for our monthly meeting at our new location, the Arizona Inn.  In addition to Jerry’s presentation, Maricela will give us an update on the city’s relationship with the business community.
