 Interfaith Retreat

An opportunity to spend 6 hours with Rabbi Elisheva Salamo and Elder Don Frew as they explore through a one-on-one conversation with each other their unique perspectives and shared longings regarding a specific spiritual theme: Harvest. Join other seekers at beautiful Spirit Rock Meditation Center to hear from both teachers about their religious backgrounds and current spiritual practices, and participate in prolonged periods of silence and meditation in the morning and afternoon, followed by times for debrief and discussion. Lunch is included, with space for those who prefer silence and those who prefer a time to visit and network with colleagues and friends.

Elisheva SalamoRabbi Elisheva Salamo: Rabbi Elisheva Salamo, a San Francisco was ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1997 and served as rabbi at Congregation Ner Shalom in Cotati for nine years. Salamo, who wrote Torah commentaries for j. from 2008 to 2011, recently became GanHalev’s first-ever rabbi.  She is also a program manager at the Oshman Family JCC and a rabbi at Keddem Congregation. She is continually awed by the privilege of studying, praying, sharing and growing with her communities. A deep believer in the power of joy to engage, transform and heal, she loves insights gained from open conversation around a text. Her life is enriched by the presence of friends, plants, and animals, but especially by her 8 year old daughter.

nullElder Don Frew: Frew is an Elder in both the Gardnerian and NROOGD traditions of modern Witchcraft (also called Wicca). He is High Priest of a Wiccan Coven in Berkeley, Coven Trismegiston. Frew is a National Interfaith Representative for the Covenant of the Goddess and has been representing Wicca in interfaith work for over 27 years. He has represented CoG at all of the modern Parliaments of the World’s Religions, including participation in the Parliament Assembly.  He founded and serves as Director for the Lost and Endangered Religions Project, an interfaith service organization that helps marginalized religious, spiritual, and indigenous communities preserve their traditions. Frew participated in the 1998-2000 Global Summits of the United Religions Initiative (www.uri.org), helping to draft the URI’s Charter, and is currently serving his fourth term on URI’s Global Council.
