Artisan Old Town Alexandria
Food Tour

Situated conveniently off the metro stop, Old Town Alexandria is the district’s original Southwest neighborhood. Annexed in the mid 1800s, the city has a feel that truly brings together Virginia and Washington DC.

Old Town Alexandria has a number of specialty food stores where owners take extreme pride in all their products. This food tour will include stops at four of these shops where you will learn about each location as well as sample many of their specialties. First stop is La Fromagerie to meet with owners Sebastian and Mary Tavel to sample a variety of high quality artisan cheeses, charcuterie and additional handmade dishes. Next, you will experience and learn about the highest quality and freshest olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars from around the world at Olio. Third, walk to Red Rocks and enjoy a selection of specialty Italian pizza and antipastos from owners who are committed to using fresh, locally grown produce and handmade cheeses. Our final stop, Bittersweet, is an Old Town classic offering sumptuous desserts for over 25 years. We will sample selected baked good including their award winning brownies, cupcakes and bars.

Tour begins at 3:00 pm and lasts approximately 3.5 hours. Cost: $55.00 per person.

You may choose to register on-line. Payment is accepted on-line or select to mail a check payable to SUAA/SU Foundation to University Relations, 1871 Old Main Dr., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
