Mondays 10am - 1pm  AUG 13-Sept 3

This "on camera" acting class will provide beginner and intermediate students with the tools for successful auditions and preparedness on the set.  This class is ideal for stage actors to transition their skills from live performance to performing for the camera.  Each session will be recorded with playback analysis for students to receive feedback critical for advancement.  Class size is limited to 10 students for personalized instruction.  Students will learn and work on the following:

• Rapid script analysis and cold read techniques
• Audition preparation & techniques
• Rapid character development
• Emotional control reading
• Improvisation for auditions
• Film set terminology
• Camera awareness & blocking
• Practical application of techniques
• Audition and Film set etiquette

About TOM THON

Tom Thon is a professional actor and director working in feature films and on stage.  Tom completed principal photography last summer as Doc Kingston.  He worked with John Houston & Jack Nicholson on Prizzi's Honor.  Men in the feature film Quarantine 2: Terminal with Mercedes Masohn and Josh Cooke.  Meryl Streep, Liev Shreiber & Jonathan Demme on The Manchurian Canidate, and with Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black on Get Low.  Tom was a 2008 Suzi Bass Award nominee as Featured Actor for his multiple roles in Terrance McNally's Some Men at Actors Express.  He continually works with the Alliance Theater, Horizon Theater and Theatre in the Square as well as with multi-media artist of the Center for Puppetry Arts.
