Series Three: "Get a Head on Your Repository with Hydra End-to-End Solutions"
Hydra is an open source project that gives institutions using Fedora a framework for rapidly producing highly tailored and polished digital library applications. Collectively, the Hydra Partners have produced a range of solutions for different content types (ETD's, articles, images, media, data, etc.) and services (institutional repositories, archiving born digital materials, preservation systems, etc.) that complement Fedora and enable libraries to realize the full potential of repository-powered solutions. This webinar series will introduce the Hydra project, demonstrate some of its many solutions, and delve into its technical componentry.
Webinar 1: Introduction to Hydra
Curated and Presented by:
Tom Cramer, Chief Technology Strategist, Stanford University Libraries
Begun in 2008 among three founding institutions and (at the time) Fedora Commons as a strategy for pooling resources to build common solutions, the project's guiding slogan has been, "if you want to go far, go together." There are now more than a dozen partner institutions and a distributed development team that far eclipses what any individual institution might muster. This Webinar will introduce the capabilities of the Hydra suite of solutions, as well as delve into both the technical framework and community frameworks underpinning the project.
