Hot Topics: The DuraSpace Community Webinar Series

Series Three:                                                                               "Get a Head on Your Repository with Hydra End-to-End Solutions"

Hydra is an open source project that gives institutions using Fedora a framework for rapidly producing highly tailored and polished digital library applications. Collectively, the Hydra Partners have produced a range of solutions for different content types (ETD's, articles, images, media, data, etc.) and services (institutional repositories, archiving born digital materials, preservation systems, etc.) that complement Fedora and enable libraries to realize the full potential of repository-powered solutions. This webinar series will introduce the Hydra project, demonstrate some of its many solutions, and delve into its technical componentry.

 Webinar 3: Technical Deep Dive

Curated by: Tom Cramer, Chief Technology Strategist, Stanford University Libraries

Presented by: Matt Zumwalt, MediaShelf, Technical Lead, Hydra Project

The Hydra Technical Deep Dive will provide a basic introduction to the development methodology and software components involved in creating digital repository solutions with Hydra.  We will look at the parts of the Hydra framework, the common software/code patterns used, the skills required to use the framework, and the technologies involved in deploying a production Hydra Head.  The webinar will be aimed at individuals and organizations who are interested in using Hydra to develop their own software solutions and/or to adopt and improve existing open-source Hydra Heads.
