The 24th Annual Conference of the Haitian Studies Association (HSA) will be convened at York College – CUNY in Jamaica, New York on November 8-10, 2012

The conference theme is: Haiti Beyond Borders: Challenges and Progress Across the Diaspora

Haiti has long existed beyond its borders.  In 1804, the island’s victorious revolution resonated globally and continues to be a point of departure for the study of liberation movements. Today, Haiti’s people form Diaspora communities across the globe.  The Haitian Studies Association (HSA) is itself an example of the diversity of those who study and (re) present Haiti across geographical and disciplinary boundaries.  For all of these reasons, the 24th annual conference, the Haitian Studies Association will be in New York, home to one of the largest Haitian Diaspora communities in the world.
