Great Highland Bagpipes & Drums

bagpipe

This course is for anyone interested in learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipes, Drums, or becoming a Drum Major.  Class topics cover a general overview of bagpipe construction, history and culture, focusing primarily on the “Great Highland Bagpipe,” as well as modern instructional progression.  Students will practice on a chanter, with the goal of playing a recognizable tune by the end of the course.  For students interested in the drums, they will be introduced, but not taught in this particular class.  If there is enough interest, a separate class may be possible in the future.

Registration available throughout course, but register by October 18, to have a chanter in time for the first class meeting.

When:  6 Thursdays, 6-7:30 p.m.,  October 25, November 1, 8, 15, 29 & December 6

Location:  First United Methodist Church, West Memphis, AR 72301
