20th Annual University of Michigan
Primary Health Care of Women Conference

What's It All About?
Providing health care for women requires a comprehensive approach that includes contributions from family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and internal medicine, among others. The objectives of this course are designed to cover the spectrum of women’s health and to broaden the primary care provider’s approach to management and treatment decisions. Selected topics will allow the participants to entertain new ways of thinking, therapeutic approaches, and technologic advances in the evolving role of the primary provider in the care of women.

Plenary sessions will cover topics of broad interest, while the breakout sessions will focus on topics of special interest and provide a forum for interaction and discussion among participants and the facilitator. During breakout sessions, participants are invited to present cases from their own practice for discussion.

• This year’s plenary sessions will address pelvic floor concerns, hormone replacement therapy, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer screening, and the evolving role of HPV.

• Focused smaller group topics include: office gynecology procedures, creative approaches to obesity and metabolic syndrome, issues of female athletes, arthritis, risk management case studies, and integrative medicine topics. Participants can also choose obstetrical update sessions which will cover elective primary caesarean section, office management of miscarriage and maternal mortality in Michigan.

• Other workshops will explore in detail issues raised during the plenary sessions.

Who Should Attend?
This course is designed to be of interest to family physicians, general internists, obstetricians and gynecologists, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and others providing primary care for women.
