I invite your support of The Newark Public Library's gala event, An Evening with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Hosted by Mayor Cory A. Booker on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 6:00PM at The Newark Public Library, 5 Washington Street, Newark, NJ.
Last year nearly a half million students, children, seniors, and adults visited The Newark Public Library to use our resources and collections. Our services and cultural programming helped them to find jobs, secure curriculum materials, and to increase their literacy and technology skills. This fall the Library begins a celebration of our 125 years as an anchor institution in Newark, and we are proud to commemorate our storied history of innovation and service.
We're excited to bring Henry Louis Gates, Jr., the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University and one of this country's most influential scholars of the American experience, to Newark for this kickoff to the Library's 125th anniversary celebration. Seats are strictly limited, and contribution levels begin at $500.
Please join Professor Gates, Mayor Booker and me for this memorable evening, and help The Newark Public Library serve our community in new and exciting ways.
