The Rotary Club of Haverford Township in conjunction with the Center for Autism Research at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia present an autism information night:

Bullying and Autism Spectrum Disorders: Identifying risk factors and strategies for families, educators, and the community

In a study released in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine last month, research found that 46% of the study sample of middle and high school students with an autism spectrum disorder told their parents they were victimized at school within the previous year.

In honor of National Bullying Month, please join Susan E. Levy, M.D. , Director of the Regional Autism Center (RAC) and Medical Director of the Center for Autism Research (CAR) at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and Megan Carolan-Tomkinson, a behavioral analyst and Psychology Associate in the Division of Child Development, Rehabilitation, and Metabolic Disease at RAC, as they discuss this issue. Both Dr. Levy and Ms. Carolan-Tomkinson will provide insights and information on this topic for approximately one hour followed by a half hour of questions from the audience.

The program is free and open to the public.

The Rotary Club of Haverford Township and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are co-sponsors of this event. Following the formal talk, parents and interested attendees are welcome to enjoy refreshments in the lobby of the school.  Information about local autism support groups, as well as representatives from these groups will be available at that time.
