Homecoming 2012
CEU event -- Saturday, Nov. 3 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Reception -- Saturday, Nov. 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This year, the School of Social Work is proud to offer an one-hour CEU event, presented by TSSW Alumnae and Adjunct Professor Lou Irwin, LCSW, entitled, "An Ethics Tune-up for Social Workers" on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The CEU is free of charge and will take place in the Stibbs Conference Room (No. 203) on the second floor of the Lavin-Bernick Center.
During the CEU Event, participants will review the NASW Code of Ethics and the Louisiana Social Work Rules, Standards, and Procedures; learn Gary Schoener’s Ethical Decision Making Table; learn Frederick Reamer’s Steps to Sound Risk Management and Ethical Decision Making; and be able to apply these tools to at least one social work case. Participants are encouraged to begin thinking about a potential ethical dilemma in their practice before coming to the workshop. Also, Irwin said that it would be helpful for each participant either to bring a hard copy of the NASW Code of Ethics and of the Louisiana Social Work "Standards of Practice" in the Rules, Standards, & Procedures or to bring a laptop or smart phone to access those online.
Our annual free alumni reception will begin at 6 p.m. featuring food, music, drinks and fellowship as well as a raffle benefitting the TSSW Student Scholarship Fund. It will take place in the Qatar Ballroom, located on the second floor of the Lavin-Bernick Center just steps away from the CEU event. All alumni and their guests are encouraged to attend. Parking will be free on Tulane's campus in all spots NOT marked "reserved."
The TSSW Alumni Association invites all TSSW alumni and guests to come enjoy an evening of fellowship, memories and good times on Tulane’s campus.
