Growing Your Fall Edible Garden
This lecture and 'hands-on' planting workshop will focus on introducing you to the wonderful cool season edibles available for growing in fall gardens and their growing requirements. The lecture will be an overview on organic gardening basics including
- soil management,
- selecting healthy plants in the nursery (we'll take you out to the edible section of ICG to demo this in 'real time'),
- feeding and pest/disease management in the cool season, and
- tips and tricks to growing edibles in containers - from raised beds to pots - will also be covered.
The 'hands-on' workshop portion held in the demonstration garden will include three breakout sessions with HGEL experts on:
- companion planting,
- proper transplanting techniques, and
- direct seed sowing.
Please bring your gloves, hand trowel, hat and sunscreen (in case this heat wave continues)!
Every participant will receive discounts on nursery purchases!
